Source documents Sagarika’s process, practice, and body of work. Originally published alongside her first solo show in New York (2023), this second edition of 1,000 copies includes new work and features a hardbound linen cover.
The book began with a series of conversations between Sagarika and me, exploring her influences to shape a narrative rich in tactile, textural details—echoing the handmade felt of her art.
The cover’s bold colors and lettering, traced from her artwork, reflect both the movement in her textiles and her unapologetic personality. A green metallic foil on bright linen nods to the silk Kanjeevaram saris of South India, a key influence in her practice.
Design features include a tippin printed on pink Bengal paper—referencing her birthplace, Kolkata—and vibrant textile imagery captured using UV LED litho on uncoated paper.
Each section is hand-stitched and hardbound. Printed and bound in Belgium, Source is more than a book—it’s a sculptural reflection of Sagarika’s artistic world.
