This book accompanies the Design Museum’s exhibition.
The Offbeat Sari, exploring how a new generation of designers, wearers, and craftspeople are reimagining the sari for today’s world. Through essays and interviews with leading voices—from couturiers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee to innovators like Abraham & Thakore—it reveals how the sari has become a powerful site of experimentation and identity.
The design echoes this transformation: divider pages reference weaving patterns, while bold full-bleed imagery contrasts with clean, minimal layouts to reflect the sari’s evolving narrative.
This book is written and edited by Priya Khanchandani Published by the Design Museum with Thames & Hudson.
